Job Summary:

The VP/Payroll Manager is responsible for compiling and maintaining payroll records per established policies and procedures and for processing accounting transactions using related computer systems.  Assist Assistant Controller and Controller in the implementation of new payroll related processes. Supervision of a payroll accountant. The position requires a standard of excellence that reflects the use of innovative solutions and maintains high productivity standards.  Problem solving, the ability to complete multiple tasks and being detailed oriented are essential.

Pay Range: Base Compensation is dependent upon role, experience, and skill set: Min- $86,295/yr Max- $143,825/yr

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains payroll system for the Bank including data input, time sheet control, accounting entries, manual or special checks and payroll distribution as outlined in the Payroll Procedures.
    • Maintenance of Ezlabor timesheet system.
    • Assist in updating payroll procedures and processes to ensure compliance with Sarbanes 404.
    • Assist in preparation of ESOP reporting.
    • Provide Payroll information needed for preparation of Banks’s corporate income tax returns.
  • Supervision of payroll accountant(s).
    • Assist and train bank employees on the bank’s online timesheet software. Implement and test new payroll related software and processes. Updates department procedures related to payroll processes.
    • Train other staff employees for cross-training and coverage purposes.
    • Backups and provides support for accounts payable.
  • Adapt payroll processes for new branches and departments when necessary.
    • Reconciles all payroll related general ledger accounts against the payroll registers.
    • Assists with the reconciling of various Bank demand deposits accounts.
    • Assists with external audits, including Workman’s Compensation reviews.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 10 to 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An understanding of finance and accounting principles and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Knowledge of word processing, spread sheets and accounting software is required.
  • Experience in a mainframe banking environment preferred.
  • Proven time management and problem solving skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and make necessary decisions within a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work in an autonomous manner
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

Compliance Responsibilities:

The employee is responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of job related laws and regulations and must maintain current compliance knowledge by attending compliance related training seminars and staff meetings and by reading pertinent compliance related materials. 

Job related laws and regulations include, but are not limited to the following:  Bank Secrecy Act (BSA); Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC); Vendor Management; Information and Data Security; and SEC regulations related to corporate governance and disclosure.
