SENIOR DIRECTOR OF IT JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Director of IT will report directly to Executive leadership. This role is responsible for overseeing the technological infrastructure of the organization, ensuring that IT strategies are aligned with the company’s overarching goals. The Senior Director of IT will guarantee the reliability, security, and efficiency of our technology systems, which are critical to supporting the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring streamlined distribution processes. This position involves leading a team of IT professionals, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing systems, developing, and executing forward-thinking IT strategies, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. This dual role position will provide support for Heritage Biologics and Summit SD.
This position will have access to sensitive company data and PHI/EPHI.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company’s objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to thoroughly understand and meet all reporting and regulatory requirements mandated by our regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Develop standard operating procedures based on best practice; ensuring documented protocols, guidelines, and training are provided to all end-users.
- Work with members of the leadership team on new endeavors, projects, and key business decisions to ensure proactive assessments have been done on current systems, network and infrastructure, and support the operations team in executing initiatives.
- IT Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring high levels of system performance and reliability.
- Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, hardware, software, and security systems.
- Ensure the timely and effective delivery of IT services and support to all departments.
- Manage all onboarding and offboarding of employees from a security standpoint.
- Ensure clear and effective communication through emails, meetings, and other departments within the organization.
- Ensure standardization and reliability of company systems.
- Vendor and Business Systems Management:
- Ensure seamless integration of third-party services with the organization's existing IT infrastructure, as well as management and oversight over system applications and software utilized both organizations, including but not limited to:

- Work with systems and key personnel internally and externally to support system integrations, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of third-party services on a regular basis.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Address and resolve any performance issues or service disruptions in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and maintain strong relationships with third-party MSPs and cybersecurity vendors to align their services with the company’s IT strategies and goals.
- Facilitate strategic, clear and effective communication between internal IT teams and third-party vendors to ensure alignment on meeting service goals as well as company goals.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure favorable terms and reliable service delivery.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments to ensure vendors meet agreed-upon standards and deliverables.
- Monitor and control costs associated with third-party services, identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimization.
- Ensure seamless integration of third-party services with the organization's existing IT infrastructure, as well as management and oversight over system applications and software utilized both organizations, including but not limited to:
- Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of IT staff.
- Encourage professional development and continuous learning within the team.
- Security and Compliance
- Ensure the organization’s IT systems are secure and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with the Information Security Team to develop and implement comprehensive security strategies, to protect data and IT infrastructure from cyber threats.
- Oversee data protection and disaster recovery plans.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of security measures and compliance protocols.
- Budget Management
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient use of resources.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with IT vendors and service providers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- 8 years of experience in IT planning or strategy, data management, operations and/or IT related experience
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a leadership role
- Valid state driver’s license and reliable automobile to commute between locations
- 24/7 IT support to ensure onsite coverage and minimal downtime of essential systems and equipment
- Must work in a timely fashion and execute at a high level to accommodate the growth of the fast-growing company
- Exhibit strong time management abilities by prioritizing tasks, setting realistic and achievable deadlines, and balancing multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency with IT infrastructure, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity and emerging technologies
- Expertise in the following:
- Microsoft Office 365 applications, Windows Server, Azure, Intune, etc.
- Experience with local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) administration
- Knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and application virtualization
- Network security solutions (Meraki preferred)
- Management of on-premises server, applications and cloud-based systems
- Expertise in oversight of migration from on-premises server to cloud based service solutions

Travel and Work Location
This position requires regular travel between our facilities. Heritage Biologics operates at two pharmacy locations: one in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and another in Plano, Texas. Additionally, Summit SD maintains two locations, both located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
