Position Posting
Job Title: Elementary Teacher - Grade K, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5
Reports To: Principal
Salary: Based on salary schedule and years of experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and valid Ohio teaching license required.
- Reading Endorsement preferred.
- Able to accept and uphold the Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of HCS.
- Agreeable to terms set forth in the HCS Personnel Manual and Teacher Agreement.
- Strong track record of student achievement in past teaching.
- Ability to create a class environment in which students feel safe, supported and challenged to engage deeply in meaningful work.
- Unshakable conviction that all students can learn at a high level.
- Able to pass Ohio Revised Code required Background Check and drug test.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction for elementary grade levels.
- Willing and able to teach Bible.
- Maintain an online grade book.
- Prepare required weekly lesson plans.
- Demonstrate positive classroom management and carry out discipline procedures as needed.
- Develop and teach highly engaging, academically rigorous lessons aligned with HCS standards and progressive pedagogical philosophy.
- Inspire students to hold themselves to high academic and character standards.
- Analyze assessment data, and use it to inform your instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student mastery of standards.
- Follow all Ohio Department of Education Standards for appropriate grade levels.
- Integrate Biblical principles and Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Create instruction with a Christian worldview in mind at all times.
- Maintain a clean, positive, user-friendly, safe classroom.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information regarding students, families and teachers.
- Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual.
- Provide excellent customer service through parent, student, and teacher interactions.
- Develop ideas to achieve student achievement targets.
- Serve as a role model for students and staff through professionalism in all areas, including appearance, responsibility and positive customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
