Heritage Community Credit Union has an opening for a Full Time (40 hours) Collector who is highly motivated, dynamic, and enthusiastic service individual to join The HCCU Crew. The Collector position is based in the Sacramento area with potential option for a hybrid remote working arrangement
The Collector will perform a variety of collection efforts to resolve the delinquent status including collecting on negative share accounts and delinquent loans. We are looking for someone who’s both detailed oriented and empathetic.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Contacts members and co-members with delinquent loans at the early/late stages of delinquency, to arrange a suitable repayment schedule. Performs a timely follow up on all types of loans assigned.
- Properly apply laws relating to debt collection, privacy and bankruptcy
- Works with members to resolve problems by researching and investigating possible solutions.
- Promotes credit union services.
- Performs skip tracing as required.
- Notates actions, conversations and recommendation in the collection history notes to ensure accurate and adequate information is maintained at all times.
- Manages placement, movement, and sale of repossess loan collateral.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience required of a Collector: 2 years of experience in a similar role or related business field utilizing these skills preferred. Previous experience in collections.
- Credit Union or Banking experience preferred.
- Repossession experience preferred.
- Education: A high school education or GED.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend specific directions.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Exceptional customer service skills in order to work with members via telephone, mail, and personal contact in a professional manner.
- Very good attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
