Job Summary
The Campus Concierge is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality and ensures a safe environment for residents, visitors, and employees across all Heritage Community of Kalamazoo (HCK) communities. Operating 24/7, the Concierge team monitors security systems, provides resident transportation, and maintains detailed documentation of events and incidents across all shifts. The role requires cooperation with various departments, creating positive first impressions through professional interactions and maintaining clean, organized work areas.

- Provide hospitality and customer service to residents and guests, ensuring a welcoming environment.
- Conduct daily resident safety checks, including Door Tag checks at The Artisan.
- Offer valet service for Independent Living residents.
- Ensure resident safety by performing tasks like snow removal, salting entrances, and maintaining cleanliness around the campus.
- Remove trash and recycling and clean and maintain cleanliness of the bins.
- Assist the Homecare department as needed with Independent Living resident needs.
- Maintain Emergency Power Outage Kits for Independent Living Communities.
- Complete compliance inspections/checklist as assigned.
- Complete minor, routine maintenance work and housekeeping, and notify maintenance person on-call for items related to the safety and security of residents, visitors, and staff of buildings and of organization.
- Set up and breakdown rooms for activities and events.
- Monitor fire alarm systems, safety pendants, and entry access while covering at the Independent Living front desk.
- Rotate shifts as needed to maintain full operational capacity.
- Function in the capacity of a security officer who patrols premises, remains alert, is visible and attentive to the safety and welfare of the residents, visitors, and staff of the
- Patrol buildings and grounds, inspecting security measures such as doors, windows, locks and fire extinguishers.
- Appropriately interviews residents, visitors, and staff to obtain information relative to security and safety reports as the incident occurs, as evidenced by documentation.
- Serve as the campus liaison with local fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies.
- Notify management and appropriate Public Safety Department personnel of incidents requiring emergency intervention of Police/Fire authorities.
- Respond to emergency pendants, situations and calls, and initiates appropriate action when encountering an unsafe situation as evidenced by observation, feedback, and documentation. This may include basic CPR/AED and use of the evacuation chair.
- Document shift notes related to the security of the communities including issues of health and welfare of residents, safety/security and incidents/unusual occurrences of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and call-in work orders.
- Read, review, and respond to Security email, calendar, and Security logbook, daily.
- Document completion of daily tasks.
- Provide transportation on and off campus, according to the transportation schedule and resident appointments, church, and events scheduled with the Life Enrichment team or others as scheduled.
- Complete and document safety walk through of vehicle prior to and after utilizing vehicle for resident transportation.
- Utilize company gas cards to ensure vehicle utilized for transportation has sufficient gas and provide receipts.
- Complete all work on time and with all facts.
- Complete and submit incident/accident reports within 24 hours, communicating with your Supervisor, Director of the Community, and the VP-COO.
- Partner with campus staff to promote an integrated and collaborative approach to providing services to residents and guests while keeping the entire campus a safe place to work and live.
- Participate in community events and provide hospitality moments.
- Act as a role model in delivering high quality customer service and utilize the hospitality approach to delivery service to residents, guests and employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years old
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in private security and/or homecare.
