Job Summary:
The Heritage Caregiver’s priority will be the delivery of personal/supportive care to clients or residents in their homes. These visits can include on and off campus. Duties such as bathing, feeding, grooming, medication reminders, household tasks, and more upon request. Duties performed at a place of residence may include keeping house (making beds, doing laundry, washing dishes) and preparing meals to support the client’s ability to remain at home. When not performing homecare duties, the Caregiver provides services for residents of our on-site communities as described below.
Major Responsibilities:
The Heritage Caregiver will:
- Administers bedside and personal care such as ambulation and personal hygiene assistance.
- Prepares and maintains records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to the Director.
- Performs housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands.
- Performs health care-related tasks such as monitoring vital signs and medication under the direction of the Director.
- Participates in development and implementation of client’s care plan with the Director.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
- Uses proper infection control methods in client’s environment per Heritage guidelines.
- Assists client with medications as designated by the Director.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from client’s residents, to run errands or for incidental transportation.
Required skills:
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients.
- Comfortable in an environment in which patients/clients cannot perform activities of daily living.
- Understanding of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping and other care areas.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
- Must be over 18 years old.
- Must have a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance, pass a motor vehicle background check.
Essential Physical Functions
- Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
