Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Coordinator who is also flexible and able to support our team in clinical operations. The ideal candidate will manage insurance processes, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and facilitate effective communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. In addition, this person will assist with clinical duties, such as sterilizing instruments, stocking supplies, and supporting chairside. This position is ideal for someone with strong dental knowledge and a passion for contributing to both the administrative and clinical functions of a dental office.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments.
- Process and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to claims.
- Maintain up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and any out-of-pocket costs.
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure proper coding for services rendered.
- Provide support in the maintenance of dental records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist clinically by helping sterilize instruments, maintain clean workspaces, and stock dental supplies as needed.
- Support dental team members in various chairside tasks when required, including patient prep and post-op care.
Experience
- Previous experience in an insurance coordinator role or similar position within a medical or dental office is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and coding practices is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards is required.
- Experience with insurance verification processes is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in office software applications is beneficial.
- Willingness to assist in clinical duties, including sterilization, stocking, and chairside assistance, is a must.
