This position assists students and families in identifying colleges of interest; supports students in completing their applications; writes thoughtful letters of recommendation; serves as a resource for parents; and participates in professional organizations, conferences, and college visit programs, both on and off-campus. - Work closely with the Director of College Counseling to serve the needs of the Heritage Hall community;
- Advise students and families as they navigate the college research, application, and selection process; manage a student assignment list of grades 10-12 comprised of about 90 total students;
- Write honest, meaningful, and thoughtful letters of recommendation for not only college applications but scholarships and pre-college programs;
- Assist with on-campus programs and workshops for parents, students, and college admissions representatives;
- Stay current on trends related to pre-college programs, college admission, financial aid, and gap-year programs;
- Oversee assigned seniors’ progress as they finalize college lists and send off applications;
- Visit college campuses to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with college admission staff, when possible;
- Be an active member in organizations directly impacting the college counseling office, including but not limited to ACCIS, GPACAC, and NACAC;
- Engage actively in the Heritage Hall community, including attending student performances, athletics events, social activities, and serving as an advisor;
- Manage the day-to-day updates with SCOIR, including uploading student and academic data;
- Assist with the Explore Week college tours event;
- Serve as the communications liaison between the college counseling department and all-campus communications department;
- Creating and maintaining a college counseling website
- Managing the social media account for the department
- Creating and distributing the college counseling quarterly newsletter
- Electronically distributing and posting signage for college visitors, evening events, and more
- Update the college resource board on the Heritage Hall Portal with timely information about the college admissions process;
- Maintain college acceptance map on Heritage Hall resource portal;
- Maintain the college admission representative campus visit calendar;
- Coordinate with the Admissions Office on receiving and uploading student records for incoming 9th grade students and transfer students for the Upper School;
- Upload finalized transcripts into Blackbaud, including requesting official transcripts and entering appropriate student data;
- Collaborate with the academic counseling office on course selection for students by managing one grade level in the academic advisement of courses;
- Oversee the implementation of academic interventions for one grade level for the school year

- Bachelor’s degree, graduate degree preferred, along with at least two years of relevant experience in college admissions and/or college counseling;
- A detail-oriented approach to work and outstanding communication skills, including writing, listening, and public speaking;

- The energy, patience, and sense of humor necessary to work effectively with high school students and their families;
