What are the responsibilities and job description for the AFC Home Program Assistant position at Heritage Homes, Inc.?
We are currently accepting resumes from qualified individuals for the following opening at our Adult Foster Care (AFC) Home in Holland, Michigan:
Full Time Program Assistant - 2nd Shift (2PM-10PM)*
In this position, the Program Assistant assists the Home Manager in directing the activities of the facility and will act as a team leader and resource for direct support staff, working to build a cohesive team. The Program Assistant acts in the Home Manager’s absence as delegated and will be asked to carry and respond to an emergency cell phone on a scheduled basis.
The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the monitoring of the daily needs of residents, reviewing the work of the direct support professionals, and carrying out weekly and monthly tasks as assigned.
In addition, this position will assist in implementing an engaging day program that provides opportunities for people served to build friendships and participate in social/recreation activities in the homes and in the community.
The Program Assistant spends approximately 80% of their time providing direct support to the clients.
Qualifications include: Demonstration of team leading/team building skills, the ability to facilitate meaningful daytime/skill building activities for the residents, the ability to communicate and interact professionally with clinicians and family members, demonstration of reliability, trustworthiness, quality care giving, good attendance, scheduling flexibility, and good interpersonal skills.
Qualified applicants must also:
- Have a current, Michigan driver's license and a driving record that is acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier
- Be able to successfully complete a physical, drug screen, TB test, and criminal check
- Have PRIOR EXPERIENCE in direct support work, preferably working with people that have intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group home environment
- Be over the age of 18
- Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred.
The starting rate of pay for this position is $20.15 per hour ($16.75 base pay PLUS $3.40/hour hero pay). Higher starting wage possible with specific experience.
This is an hourly, full time position with benefits. Full time benefits include: medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; short term disability insurance; and paid vacation, personal and sick time.
The Program Assistant will be required to work every other weekend. *Note that hours in various shifts may be assigned to ensure the home’s schedule.
