SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Exempt position).Year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms.

Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program specializing in autism and neurodiversity. We offer a year-round, project-based learning curriculum that fosters confidence and a love for education. As an accredited special education school, we are committed to providing individualized support to help students thrive academically and personally.
The Homeroom Teacher/Paraprofessional will play a vital role in supervising students, assisting them with their coursework, and helping them stay on track with academic credits. This position requires someone who is resourceful, engaging, and passionate about helping neurodiverse students succeed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise students in an advisory/homeroom class while they work on various online learning programs.
- Support students in staying focused, completing assignments, and catching up on curriculum requirements.
- Coordinate with Residential Coaches to develop and facilitate school clubs during early-out Wednesdays.
- Collaborate with Teachers and Academic Advisors to develop light curriculum and structured lessons to support students earning academic credit.
- Provide instructional support to students aged 13-18, accommodating various academic levels and special education needs.
- Work closely with the Special Education Coordinator to track and implement IEP goals for assigned students.
- Foster an engaging and structured learning environment that supports both academic success and personal growth.
- Support students in developing life-long learning skills that contribute to their independence and confidence.
- Help manage student behaviors by using calm mediation strategies and maintaining a positive, structured atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Special Education, Secondary Education, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
- Prior experience in special education or residential treatment is highly desirable.
- Must be at least 20 years old to apply.
- Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking fluently).
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and how to engage students in a structured learning environment.
- Knowledge of special education practices, particularly in supporting high-functioning autism and other neurodiverse behaviors.
- Ability to provide engaging, adaptable instruction while balancing structure and flexibility.
- Strong organizational skills to create a physical and academic structure that promotes learning.
- Even temperament and patience to support students through moments of frustration or emotional escalation.
