What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at HERITAGE SPECIALTY PHARMACY?
The Financial Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management for the consolidated companies of Summit SD, Heritage Specialty Pharmacy and Summit Holdings including but not limited to corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Financial Controller responsibilities also include financial risk management and support the Senior Financial Analyst with budget and forecast preparation, drive the completion of tax filings and third-party financial audits, in coordination with US based and foreign auditors. In this role, he/she will have access to sensitive company data. The Financial Controller will manage the accounting team and report to the Vice President of Finance.
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Collaborate with and support the Sr Financial Analyst in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Drive the accounting team to a successful and consistent month-end and year-end timely closing process
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Ensure quality internal controls over financial transactions and financial reporting to maximize protection of company assets
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop, document and maintain business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and saving on shared drive
- Drive partnership with external auditors and oversee third party audit process
- Institute processes to minimize external expenditures related to audit and financial matters
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
- Partner with foreign and US based manufacturer partner accounting group to assure financial alignment and accounting process.
- Train and educate staff to develop finance team technical and business strength
- Additional controller duties as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
- 10 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statements
- Demonstrated experience with general ledger functions and the improving month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- History of managing accountants and financial staff
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare, Pharmacy and Distribution experience, preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central Preferred)
