Purpose:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s vehicle and large asset fleet. This role ensures optimal utilization, maintenance, and compliance of all fleet assets while maximizing efficiency and minimizing costs. The Fleet Manager will play a critical role in asset lifecycle management, vendor coordination, and support operational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal of all company vehicles and company fixed assets (forklifts, trailers, etc.)
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing, registration, and safety inspections
- Validate that drivers are onboarded and maintain compliance with local, state and federal requirements
- Oversee vendor relationships and system maintenance for vehicle servicing, leasing, fuel programs, GPS/telematics, and parts procurement
- Monitor fleet performance metrics including utilization, fuel efficiency, downtime, and maintenance costs to drive continuous improvement
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and schedules
- Maintain accurate records of asset inventory, service history, and cost reports. Utilizing the Fleetworthy platform
- Collaborate with operations, safety, and finance teams to align fleet strategy with organizational needs
- Lead asset audits and support capital planning and budgeting for fleet and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- 3 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or operations involving vehicle and equipment oversight
- Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, asset lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to manage vendor contracts and negotiate service agreements
- Proven ability to analyze, interpret and act upon internal and external reports
- Proficient with fleet management software and tools (e.g., telematics, maintenance tracking)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Works in a standard office environment, including consistently viewing a computer monitor and using keyboard/mouse
- Physical requirements include standard office duties and minimal lifting
