About the Role:
The Human Resources Director will manage the entire HR process and will play a pivotal role in shaping the workforce strategy for our organization within the transportation and warehousing industry. This position is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and programs that enhance employee engagement, retention, and overall organizational effectiveness. The director will lead recruitment, training, and performance management initiatives to ensure we attract and retain top talent. Additionally, the role involves overseeing employee relations and compliance with labor laws, ensuring a fair and equitable workplace. Ultimately, the Human Resources Director will contribute to creating a positive organizational culture that aligns with our business goals and values.
Responsibilities:
- Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives
- Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, and labor relations
- Oversees human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff
- Promotes and implements human resource values by planning and managing human resources programs, directing staff
- Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations
- Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Manage our payroll and benefits providers to design and implement all employee benefits, compensation, and wellness programs.
- Lead employee engagement programs to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Serve as liaison to Rutgers Supply Chain Leadership Program, representing Hermann as the founding member.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Human Resources or an MBA.
- Experience in the transportation and warehousing industry.
