Job Title: Wine Educator
Classification: Hourly, Part Time or Full Time
Reports To: Tasting Room Manager
Interacts With: Guests, Co-workers, Winery Production Staff, Sales Staff, Trade Visitors
Summary
Our Wine Educators are the most knowledgeable source of information for our patrons, providing hospitality-driven beverage service, as an integral part of the Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard guest experience.
Responsibilities (To include but not limited to the following):
- Carry out tableside wine service to our guests
- Provide a superior customer experience that is friendly, courteous and professional while providing guests with knowledge on the unique qualities of our wines
- Have an interest and passion for wine
- Accurately and consistently describe and promote Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard wines, events, services, vineyards and viticultural practices
- Ability to sustain a high volume of guests throughout the day, tolerate frequent interruptions and changes in routine
- Opening and closing procedures
- Achieving and maintaining quality presentation in all public and back of house areas at all times
- Provide and ensure responsible beverage service
- Assist in resolution of guest concerns or problems
- Keep tasting room, work area and sales area clean, organized and safe
- Assist in stocking of retail and tasting room bottles
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and able to lift 40 pounds
Expectations:
- Our Wine Educators provide genuine hospitality and a vast knowledge of our wines in the Tasting Room for guests to sample, enjoy and purchase.
- Act as a team player, working with the entire team to promote a cooperative working environment.
- Demonstrate teamwork and responsiveness when asked to do any task consistent with winery standards, including back of house, housekeeping and cleaning tasks.
- Keep information confidential unless otherwise instructed
- Keep the work area and sales area clean, organized and safe. Performs daily cleaning tasks as a team player.
- Work continually towards self-development to stay current on customer service, sales, procedures and practices.
- Responds to customer inquiries and problem solving in a professional and effective fashion.
- Asks questions when needed for clarification and understanding
- Available to work most weekends
