What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite Caregiver position at Heroes Unbound LLC?
Respite care invests time in children and gives a break to parents that have a difficult time finding care.
The possibilities with respite are endless. Respite caregivers spend time teaching children every day living skills, invest in a child’s emotional well-being by taking part in fun activities, and offer a much needed break to primary care givers. As a respite caregiver you could take a child swimming, sledding, to the movies, play video games, teach them how to cook, do laundry, or just to play at the park.
The Respite Caregiver position is part time. Hours are typically after school, unless a child does not attend school or has reduced hours. Respite care can also be done on weekends. When school is not in session (summer vacation and holidays) it is possible to work more hours if desired.
Caregivers and client families work together to establish a schedule that works for both of them. Caregivers can work with multiple clients to get as many hours as they would like. The schedule has great flexibility where time off is as easy as letting the family know when you are unavailable.
Caregivers must be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record. They must also have car insurance, because sometimes they may be required to transport clients in town to parks, stores, and other locations.
Some clients have higher needs than others, but we do our best to pair the right client with the right caregiver. Caregivers are informed about a client and will meet them in person before they begin. If at any time either the client family or the caregiver doesn't feel it is the right fit, we seek a better opportunity for both.
