General Definition of WorkUnder limited supervision, performs complex professional, administrative and managerial work helping administer the daily activities of the county government. Work involves coordinating and overseeing operation of assigned departments, managing county projects, and representing the county on various boards, commissions and committees. Work also involves receiving, investigating, and resolving complaints/concerns from Board members, county staff, public and private agencies and the public. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work and tact and courtesy in frequent contact with county employees, community groups, businesspersons, contractors and the public. Report to the County Manager.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks-Serves a chief administrative officer in the absence of the County Manager as required.-Assists the County Manager in coordinating budget, personnel, and administrative policy matters as required to ensure compliance and maintain operational standards; develops recommendations for new programs, revision, policy modifications and ordinances for presentation to the County Manager.-Performs supervisory duties as necessary including assigning and reviewing work; program planning; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; preparing performance evaluations, acting on employee problems; recommending transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.-Coordinates submission of assigned departmental budgets to County Manager, assists assigned departments with budget formulation as needed.-Represents county on boards, commissions, and committees related to areas of responsibility as assigned;-Any other related duties as deemed necessary
