Network Specialist

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking a qualified Network Specialist in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to join our team.

The pay rate for this position is $63.27 per hour.

Duties And Responsibilities

• This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
• Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions with in-house communications equipment and circuits.
• Perform hardware/software maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and installations.
• Monitor and maintain Metrolink Train Control Network.
• Create documents and reports related to the back office and train control network.
• Expedite investigations and repairs of malfunctioning wayside equipment.
• Comply with any portion of the FRA 49 CFR Part 234, GCOR, Metrolink Timetable, General Orders or Special Instructions that are in any way related to the above-outlined responsibilities, as well as any policies and procedures dictated by Herzog and SCRRA.
• Windows application and system management preferred.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Signal experience preferred.
• TMDS experience preferred.
• PTC experience preferred.
• IT experience preferred.
• Must possess basic to intermediate computer and networking skills.
• Basic understanding of railroad field, dispatching operations and safety required.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly .
• Consistently demonstrates technical skills/knowledge when performing the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Ability to make intuitive logical leaps without all necessary data to locate non-obvious network issues.
• Ability to react quickly to changing, fast-paced environments.
  
  

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
• Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
• This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position.

• Lift and transfer weight up to 70 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet.
• Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
• Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
• Regularly ascend and descend an 18 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment.
• Regularly push/pull with a body force of up to 50 pounds.
• Use hands to regularly grasp or squeeze wrenches, switches requiring force up to 60 pounds.
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
• Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
• Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
• Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
• Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
• Work in a confined access/space environment as narrow as 18 inches.
