Overview:
Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Rail Systems Manager in Kearny, NJ to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Plan, lead, direct and monitor Rail Systems preconstruction activities including cost estimating, design review, development/review of proposed innovations.
  • Lead Technical Working Group meetings for Rail Systems during all project stages.
  • Review designs to ensure safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure work packages are developed in accordance with project contracts, schedules and estimates.
  • Manage, train, and mentor Rail Systems Field Engineers and Interns.
  • Liaise/develop relationships with owner(s) Systems leads.
  • Develop and execute Cut-over/Tie-in plans.
  • Develop and execute Standard Operating Procedures for Rail Systems work elements, testing and commissioning.
  • Develop and Manage Systems Contract Deliverable Requirement List.
  • Monitor material usage and material reports to ensure proper inventory control.
  • Monitor field production units, evaluate equipment and labor means and methods to ensure alignment with project estimates.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred bachelor's (or greater) degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Rail Systems Engineering.
  • Preferred past electrical/communication background.
  • Preferred mechanical comprehension and experience interpreting schematics and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook and CAD.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
