What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Cashier/Runner position at Heuberger Motors, Inc.?
Heuberger Subaru is currently hiring for the position of Service Cashier/Runner. Heuberger Subaru has been in business since 1970 and offers room to advance and grow within the company. We are looking for friendly and outgoing individuals who can provide an excellent customer service experience for all of our customers.
THIS POSITION IS A TEMPORARY FULL TIME POSITION BUT WILL LEAD TO A PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITION WITH SAME PAY.
- Greets customers at the cashier desk in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Computes customer bills.
- Receives cash, checks and credit card payments from customers; records amount received.
- Makes change and issues receipts to customers.
- Provides cash refunds or credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.
- Operates cash register.
- Reconciles cash drawer daily.
- Refers customers who have questions about the work performed, additional maintenance, or repairs etc. to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
- Handles customer complaints with integrity and poise and, when necessary, refers dissatisfied customers to the appropriate individuals for resolution.
- Maintains and files repair orders, parts invoices, rental forms; lists missing documents.
- Closes all open invoices.
- Assists service and parts department with telephone coverage.
- Provides clerical and secretarial assistance to parts and service departments.
- Works with department manager to keep abreast of new products and services offered, their features and value, and any changes in price.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Keeps work area neat and clean.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervises customers with the Subaru Service Loaner Program (SSLP) vehicles to ensure customer’s information is obtained and recorded before releasing a loaner vehicle. Verifies customer have appropriate insurance coverage to utilize the vehicle. Advises customer of charges due and or what the SSLP will cost if not covered under warranty.
- Checks SSLP’s in and out with customers to confirm and or report any damages
- Reports damages to SSLP fleet before customer leaves.
- Contacts Hertz to reserve vehicles for customers and or contacts Hertz to advise when a vehicle has returned.
- Ensures that SSLP’s are billed correctly on the repair order: warranty, customer pay, or internal.
- Ensures advisors are charging the correct amount for the vehicle and alerting managers when the charges are discounted, removed, or missing.
- Ensures the fleet is kept current with all necessary maintenance and or repairs.
- Ensures the fleet is kept clean, gassed, and ready for the next customer
- Reports any and all damages and ensures that if/when a vehicle is damaged, the customer’s insurance is notified and the SSLP system is notified/insurance accident reporting.
- Frequently tracks and records vehicle mileage to ensure the vehicles are used evenly to prevent excessive mileage build up on single units.
- Frequently tracks each vehicle usage and ensures that vehicles are not kept out on the road too long and initiates a trade out when necessary.
- Updates management team daily, on vehicle utilization, issues, problems, damage, maintenance, and any concerns with the fleet.
- Assists with delivering/retrieving money/paperwork from banks, DMV, automotive auction, other dealerships, post office & legal offices.
- Assists with supply runs.
- Other duties as assigned.

This is a Full-time position: 40 hours a week. Schedules vary between Monday-Friday and some Saturdays depending on the rotating schedule.
