What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hewlett Packard Labs - Photonics Research Associate (Post Doc) position at Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
Role and Responsibilities
The Large Scale Integrated Photonics group (LSIP) at Hewlett Packard Laboratories is seeking qualified candidates for a Postdoc research position starting immediately. The main research topic is Silicon photonics, with the long-term goal of achieving a low-power consumption, high-speed photonic interconnect system for HPE data center business. The selected candidate will participate in design, fabrication, and characterization of Si-based photonic integrated component and circuits. The research topics also include all-optical logic in networks of nanophotonic circuits, with the goals of demonstrating ultra-low switching energies, and obtaining a better understanding of the potential role that quantum coherent feedback control may play in classical information technologies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have recently completed a PhD degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering, and have demonstrated the potential for high-caliber research. The ideal candidate will have theoretical and experimental knowledge of Si photonics as well as the ability to characterize these optoelectronic devices in the laboratory; the ability to design and layout microphotonic and nanophotonic devices on chip-scale platforms; and extensive cleanroom experience, including the ability to use state-of-the-art lithography, etching and thin film deposition tools and process Silicon devices. Experiences in High-speed testing is a plus. Applicants should be comfortable working in a strongly collaborative and multidisciplinary industrial basic research environment.
Preferred Skills
