Hexagon Purus is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for our Mobility and Infrastructure business unit in Westminster, MD.
The Quality Assurance Manager has the overall responsibility to ensure that every product manufactured by the Company meets customer expectations and industry standards. The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the quality team including quality engineers and inspectors. This position interfaces with both internal and external contacts and serves as the Company’s quality liaison with both the customer and supplier base.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the development and launch of new products through effective and proactive product quality planning.
- Assist manufacturing operations to quickly and permanently resolve quality issues as they arise.
- Take a lead role in completing preventive and corrective actions, for both internal and external customer issues
- Plan, oversee and analyze process capability studies and gage repeatability & reproducibility (GR&R) studies.
- Create and implement control plans
- Perform internal Quality Management System and process audits.
- Evaluate the capability and performance of new and existing suppliers through regular communication and on-site audits and assessments.
- Interface with customers on quality issues. Coordinate containment and improvement actions to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Review engineering specifications, drawings and work instructions, for fulfillment of customer requirements.
- Represent the Quality Team as a point of contact for daily operational support.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field with 5 years’ management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. (7 years of applicable experience in-lieu of degree may be considered)
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Ability to interpret and understand complex engineering drawings and flow charts
- Previous budget management experience
- Must be United States citizen, lawful permanent resident or otherwise eligible to work in the United States
- Travel approximately10% of the time within the US and internationally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional organization involvement, such as American Society for Quality (ASQ), Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Association for Operations Management (APICS), Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), or other related
- Previous creation of AIAG (or similar) Control Plans
- Application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methods
- Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Development and Analysis of Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Development and Analysis of Gage Repeatability& Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies
- Six Sigma, or alternatively Total Quality Management (TQM), methodology/tools
- Lean methodology/tools such as mistake-proofing (poke-yoke), value stream mapping (VSM), and Kaizen
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB)
