We are seeking a detail-oriented Mainframe Analyst to support the modernization and decommissioning of legacy mainframe systems. The role involves analyzing existing applications and data flows, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver reverse engineering outputs aligning with business objectives
- Reverse engineer mainframe applications to analyze data source, data analysis and business logic
- Gather the requirements and specifications to understand the client requirements in a detailed manner and translate the same into system requirements.
- Ability to create tools using REXX or CLIST
- In-depth understanding of mainframe technologies, e.g., COBOL, JCL, VSAM, or CICS, as wells as DB2 or SQL databases.
- Able to design, develop and test mainframe programming languages like COBOL, PL/I, Natural, ADABAS, IMS/IDMS, DB2, CICS, BMS etc.
- Hands-on experience using TSO / ISPF, XPEDITOR, QMF, FILEAID, SORT utilities, or Tool utilities.
- Expertise in batch processing and providing inputs for batch scheduling.
- Play a key role in the overall estimation of work requirements to provide the right information on project estimations to Technology Leads and Project Managers.
- Work in a diverse, multiple stakeholder team environment
- General knowledge on assessment techniques to derive the modernization solution for legacy customers.
- Hands on experience with tools like CAST highlight and CAST imaging software
- Knowledge on Bluage or Microfocus or any other market leading products used for discovery, migration/modernization.
- Agile software development and DevOps.
- 5 years of experience in a technical lead role migrating workloads from mainframe and non-x86 legacy systems to distributed x86 infrastructures on-premises or in the Cloud;
- 5 years of experience integrating mainframe and non-x86 legacy systems with distributed Linux-based or Windows-based x86 servers.
- Experience with tools and methodologies used to migrate mainframe workloads via re-platforming or rewrite.
- Experience with analyzing on-prem mainframe applications and data stores to formulate plans for modernizing workloads that achieve customer s desired business outcomes.
- Experience with COBOL modernization and porting application code across platforms.
