Assistant Controller
Welsh, LA
The Assistant Controller for HENDERSON FAMILY ENTERPRISES will provide support to Henderson Implement & Marine, the leading dealer of boats, tractors, and offroad vehicles in Lake Charles and Abbeville, and Henderson Wholesale, a multi-state distributor of Hunt Brothers Pizza. Note: This position has the option to work a portion of the week in Lake Charles.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, credit management, and taxes.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing continuous training, and maintaining strong relationships.
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze financial statements, including results to budget, gross margin analysis, and financial ratios.
- Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs and protect assets.
- Work with Management to provide financial forecasting.
- Keep up to date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas.
- Analyze, apply, and improve policies, procedures, controls, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with Insurance providers to protect assets and provide industry leading benefits to Associates.
- Oversee year-end tax filings, including payroll, 1099, and property.
Requirements:
- Four-year Degree in Accounting.
- Able to effectively use Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficient in the advanced use of Excel spreadsheets.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Able to effectively use multiple business systems for multiple entities.
- Possess excellent math skills.
- Be innovative in identifying best practices for the accounting department and other areas of the company.
- Possess attention to details.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
- Versed working knowledge of financial operations, accounting, compliance, and employee relations required.
- Always handle confidential company and personal information with integrity.
