Job Summary
MEDSTAR HEALTH is seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide high-quality patient care at Montgomery Medical Center.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of computerized clinical information systems and adhere to HIPAA policies on confidentiality.
As a CNA, you will work under the direction and supervision of an RN to deliver direct and indirect patient care according to established procedures, focusing on the adult and geriatric population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Perform basic, routine, and specialized tasks in assigned departments, supervised by a registered nurse. Meet patients' needs, providing baths, linen changes, bedpans, water pitchers, etc. Assist with ambulation, positioning, elimination, personal hygiene, activities of daily living, routine comfort measures. Transport patients and transfer patients between stretcher and bed and bed to chair. Provide nourishments as requested and authorized by orders, including distribution and collection of meal trays as needed.
- Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and prepared work environment. Prepare patient areas for admissions. Clean patient care equipment, as assigned. Distribute supplies to designated storage areas when they are delivered to unit. Check par levels of supplies and restock as needed. Ensure orderliness of utility, storage, nourishment, and nursing station areas at the end of each shift.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Assist in the timely collection and accurate reporting of patient data. Observe, monitor, and record vital signs and nursing care procedures in the appropriate area of the clinical record. Ensure documentation accuracy. Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with patients and families, staff, and physicians. Be flexible with schedule to meet departmental needs.
- Certification and Continuing Education: Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identify learning needs in self and initiate actions to address these education needs. Attend continuing education programs to maintain certification. Participate in hospital-sponsored training programs as required by the department. Complete all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allotted time for completion.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work effectively within and between departments. Participate in interdepartmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provide department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrate a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.
Requirements:
- Experience in a hospital setting.
- Current nursing school student.
- CPR certification.
- CNA certification.
- High School Diploma / GED; or completion of a certified nursing assistant, medical corpsman program; or 6 months equivalent experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- If a student at an accredited school of professional nursing, must have completed the fundamentals of nursing, one clinical rotation, and have a CNA license.
