What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at HHM Talent?
HHM Talent is assisting a client search for an Accounting Manager for their tree service located in Chattanooga, TN.
This is a hybrid position: 3 days on site and 2 days remote. Experience and knowledge in the construction space is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping: Manage day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accurate data entry and record-keeping.
- Accounts Payable: Work closely with the Office Manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of bills, vendor payments, and other AP tasks.
- Financial Statements: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal review and reporting.
- Tax Preparation & Organization: Maintain records and prepare documentation required for tax filing; ensure all necessary information is compiled and ready for submission during tax season.
- Insurance Audits: Assist with insurance audits and ensure all information is accurate and timely.
- Legal Documents: Read, review, and sign various legal documents, including bids and contracts. Ensure compliance and accuracy before approvals.
- Email Monitoring & Communication: Keep an eye on important emails related to accounts payable, tax documents, and other financial communications.
- Vendor & Client Interaction: Communicate with vendors, clients, and team members as needed regarding payments, contracts, or other financial matters.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Excel is required.
- Familiarity with Sams.gov, GovSpend, and ADP for payroll management, with the potential transition to a new payroll system.
- Invoice Assistance: While the Office Manager handles invoicing, the Accounting Manager will support when necessary, ensuring invoices are accurate and processed in a timely manner.

- Work Schedule: Expected to work 3 days in-office and 2 days remote once processes are stable and automated.
Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, financial reporting, and tax preparation. Some exposure to legal documents, contract review, and insurance audits is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, basic knowledge of Sams.gov, GovSpend, and ADP or a willingness to learn new systems as the company transitions payroll systems.
- Experience in the construction industry and have working knowledge with construction equipment
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
