JOB STATUS: TEMP WITH BENEFITS
JOB LOCATION: Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii
FUNCTION: Performs routine manual work in kitchen for the preparation and serving of meals, make simple salads and desserts, help to serve meals, wash and store dishes, kitchen utensils and equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned. Must be available all days, all shifts.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Experience and Training: Some experience in general kitchen work where food is prepared; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Ability to: Learn quantity cooking; learn to operate kitchen appliances; measure food servings and serve foods; follow oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others; carry heavy loads when necessary; and withstand kitchen heat. Work independently and complete all job assignments on a daily basis.
Knowledge of:
Preparation of food for cooking, methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning kitchen appliances and utensils; safety and sanitation requirements and personal hygiene
Physical and Medical Requirements:
Employee must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily. Physical demands may include moderate to heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 pounds with assistance) and moderate amount of standing/walking. Environmental conditions may include extreme hot, cold and temperature changes such as walking into the walk-in freezer). Working conditions may require exposure to toxic chemicals used for cleaning. Protective equipment may be required such as gloves, face protection or apron.
