Description
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and correct machine problems in the production area.
- Perform setup, adjustment, and repair work on all equipment in production and in tool room.
- Assemble, install, and adjust machinery.
- Build simple dies, jigs, and fixtures from sketches and prints.
- Perform welding, as directed.
- Perform a variety of work, using knowledge of electrical, water, air, and hydraulic circuits, with supervision, as needed.
- Perform a variety of schedule machinery testing and documentation.
- Perform building maintenance work, as needed.
- Prepare required paperwork and reports.
- Notify supervisor of equipment or operating difficulties.
- Use hand and power tools, as well as all tool room machinery such as drill press, saw, grinder, milling machine, lathe, etc. Use precision measuring equipment. Operate forklift, hoist and manlift.
Qualifications
Essential Functions Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Must furnish own tools to perform work, as specified in maintenance A position.
- Lift and or move weights ranging from 30-5000 lbs., or more, using hoists or other mechanical means.
- Requires frequent pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching.
- Working in a variety of work positions, including heights.
- Operations require stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing or crawling.
- Continuous standing and walking, some sitting.
- Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – up to 60 pounds.
- Work environment is sometimes loud.
- Good depth perception for fork truck operation.
- Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.
- Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
- Ability to hear warnings from equipment, machines, vehicles and public-address systems.
- Requires frequent reaching at or below shoulder height, some over shoulder work.
- Requires frequent movement of head and neck.
- Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.
- Use of a video display terminal (VDT) for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eye strain from extended periods of viewing VDT.
Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:
- Excellent working knowledge of basic machine wiring and programs.
- Skilled in the troubleshooting and repair of motor control circuits, and can convert relay logic machines to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Strong knowledge of basic blueprints, as well as ability to work from electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
- Must be able to us Computerized Maintenance Management System for inventory and work order systems.
- Must have strong capabilities in all three of these essential areas: 1. Electrical 2. Mechanical & 3. Machining and welding
Exposure:
- Dust, noise, heat, molten material, vibration, chemicals moving vehicles and manufacturing odor.
- The factory condition environment is not air conditioned but heated.
