LASER OPERATOR I
Department: Laser
Reports To: Laser Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SUMMARY
The Laser Operator 1 at Hi Tech Honeycomb is an entry-level role designed for learning and growth. This position offers the opportunity to master the operation of laser machines and gain valuable skills in the production of honeycomb materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
This role involves learning under the guidance of the Production Supervisor/Mentor, with responsibilities outlined as follows. Additional tasks may be given to enhance learning and skill development as required. Duties must be performed under the supervision of the Mentor until competence is displayed.
- Understand and execute Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals
- Understand and follow safety procedures such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Learn to produce honeycomb as per OM 2.2.6 Honeycomb Fabrication Laser
- Follow shop floor instructions as per OM 3.8.2
- Learn how to read and understand travelers and sketches
- Learn how to read and understand to Weld Sketches/ Blueprints
- Learn the tools used to confirm dimensions and quality are met
- Learn to Follow Estimated Prod Hrs. during honeycomb fabrication
- Inform Lead / Supervisor / Engineer of issue or concerns regarding material, machine, method, and environment
- Follow direction of Lead / Supervisor at all times
- Other duties as needed
Note: Within the OJT period, an employee could be required to work outside of their position level (e.g. Laser Operator I working a Level II-III Job). While this is not the typical practice, it is sometimes needed to support Customer Demand and Product Throughout

- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Manufacturing experience is desired is preferred.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide is required.
- REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and apply common sense to carry out instructions written in oral, or diagram form.
- PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with calipers, protractors, and inspection tools/equipment.
Familiarity with travelers and sketches.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
