Job Summary:
Hi Tech Honeycomb, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Controller to oversee financial operations and reporting within our manufacturing facility. This strategic role requires a leader who can provide both high-level oversight and hands-on development of processes, systems, and talent. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, and regulatory compliance, all while aligning financial operations with company goals. Acting as a key partner to plant management, the Manufacturing Controller delivers insights and guidance that drive informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Track and report on key financial metrics, including production costs, labor expenses, inventory valuation, and overhead costs.
- Conduct variance analysis (e.g., actual vs. budget, actual vs. forecast) to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
2. Cost Accounting and Budgeting
- Oversee the cost accounting system to ensure accurate product costing and profitability analysis.
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with plant management and corporate finance teams.
- Monitor and report on manufacturing costs, ensuring adherence to cost targets and efficiency goals.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls over financial reporting and operational processes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
4. Inventory and Asset Management
- Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory valuation.
- Monitor and control capital expenditures (CapEx) to ensure alignment with budgets and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize inventory levels and improve working capital.
5. Business Partnership and Leadership
- Serve as a financial advisor to management, providing insights on cost reduction, productivity improvement, and profitability enhancement.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Train and mentor plant finance staff, fostering professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CMA certification preferred).
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting principles.
- Knowledge of absorption accounting is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven ability to provide financial oversight while also driving the development and improvement of processes, systems, and reporting tools.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar); M1 experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data modeling and analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and production teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence teams in a dynamic environment, and develop talent within the finance function.
