POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Overnight Housing Support Assistant
PROGRAM: Housing Services
JOB SUMMARY: To assist with support, safety, and stability for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses. They will monitor the activity in the public areas within the building. Housing assistant will also be available for emergency support, assistance or crisis intervention if needed. This is primarily an overnight position, sleeping is permitted.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Create a safe and welcoming and safe in the facility.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the building and grounds
- Support clients with light housekeeping skills and meal preparation.
- Assist clients with medication monitoring and independent living skills.
- Provide assistance to clients when they are in a crisis situation.
- Complete all documentation as required.
- Transport clients when assigned/or needed.
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and required clinical supervision meetings as scheduled.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Must be able to walk, sit, stand, crouch, twist, bend, reach overhead, maneuver stairs and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities. Must be able to move around the office on a daily basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with others and exchange information. This is primarily a sedentary position (standing and/or sitting). Employee regularly operates a computer and other office equipment on a daily basis. Occasional bending and lifting of office materials up to 30 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency.
- Must possess ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Ability to work with serious and persistent mentally ill individuals.
- Have the ability and flexibility to work additional hours as need dictates.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Have skills and knowledge acquired through at least one of the following:
a. a course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, or associate’s degree;
b. one year of experience with the target population served;
c. experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statutes, section 256B.0615; or
d. meet the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statutes, sections 144A.43 to 144A.483.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel as needed to client or organization locations throughout SE MN.
- Must hold a current certificate in CPR/AED/First Aid or be willing to obtain.
