Part-Time (16 hours): 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM), every other weekend
Part-Time (12 hours): 3rd shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend
Full-Time (36 hours): 3rd shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend

Position Overview
The Detox Nurse (LPN/RN) plays a vital role in the medical care and recovery process of clients undergoing detoxification from substances. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented professional who can monitor clients’ health, administer medications safely, and respond to withdrawal symptoms under clinical protocols.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Detox Nurse will conduct physical health assessments, implement nursing care plans, and maintain accurate documentation while supporting clients with addiction and behavioral health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct nursing assessments on admissions and throughout treatment
• Perform CIWA and COWS assessments to monitor withdrawal symptoms
• Administer medications, including high-risk medications, per physician orders and protocols
• Monitor and document vitals, pain levels, and overall health status
• Perform point-of-care testing, including glucose monitoring, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, and TB screenings
• Receive and properly store medications from the pharmacy
• Use two identifiers when administering medications
• Educate clients on medications and treatment plans
• Document all nursing interventions, observations, and medication administrations accurately in EMR
• Perform COVID-19 testing and follow infection control protocols
• Participate in quality improvement activities and safety reporting
• Adhere to HIPAA, Joint Commission, and facility policies at all times
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure client needs are met
• Maintain narcotics count and handle emergency drug kits
• Report medication errors or near misses to the Director of Nursing
Qualifications
• Valid LPN or RN license from an accredited school of nursing
• Experience in behavioral health, detox, or hospital setting preferred
• Certified BLS provider (required prior to or within one month of hire)
• Strong knowledge of detox protocols and nursing standards of care
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
• Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and clinical judgment skills
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical boundaries
Compensation
• $35 - $40 per hour
(Compensation is based on experience, licensure, and shift differentials)
