Position Overview
The Floor Nurse (LPN/RN) is responsible for providing quality medical care to adult clients experiencing behavioral health and addiction issues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical competence, compassion, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Floor Nurse performs physical assessments, monitors client conditions, and ensures proper administration of medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments on client admission
• Perform CIWA and COWS evaluations for withdrawal management
• Administer medications safely, including high-risk medications, using two patient identifiers
• Monitor and document vitals, pain assessments, and overall health status
• Perform point-of-care testing such as urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucose monitoring, and TB screenings
• Receive and manage medications from the pharmacy
• Educate clients on treatment plans and medications
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system
• Respond to suicide risks and complete related documentation
• Ensure adherence to admission and discharge procedures
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and team meetings
• Maintain emergency drug kits and complete narcotic counts
• Follow proper infection control procedures including COVID-19 testing
• Report medication errors, safety hazards, or incidents to appropriate leadership
• Use PPE and perform proper hand hygiene throughout the shift
Qualifications
• Valid LPN or RN license from an accredited nursing program
• Previous experience in hospital, detox, or behavioral health settings preferred
• Certified BLS provider (must be obtained within 1 month of hire)
• Strong clinical judgment and sound decision-making skills
• High level of professionalism and ethical conduct
• Team-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer applications
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
• Flexible with scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation
• $25 - $32 per hour
(Compensation is based on experience, licensure, and shift availability)
