Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Golf Professional to join our team.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • College degree preferred with a bachelor’s degree in a business-related major or Sports Management.
  • Five years’ work experience as a Golf Professional or equivalent work experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at a private club.

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Holds Class A Certification through the PGA of America.
  • Has met PGA criteria for Head Professional.

Position Summary

The Head Golf Professional directs all aspects of the golf facility including its Golf Shop, staff, and all administrative operations. Coordinates and oversees the entire staff and monitors the quality of products and services to maximize customer satisfaction. Secures and protects facility assets.

Management

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Analyze and monitor financial statements and review income and expenses relative to plans. Implement corrective measures as needed, and reports status monthly.

· Assure operational compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

· Maintain knowledge and compliance with all lease terms and contractual obligations.

· Develop/implement general policies. Approve specific operational policies, programs, and procedures in harmony with the mission and general policies.

· Monitor the performance of all daily operations, functions, and services while assuring high standards and total customer satisfaction.

· Establish personnel policies by ensuring proper hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, personal development, payroll, and corrective action in accordance with fair labor standards and safety.

· Oversee the care and maintenance of all physical assets and facilities.

· Ensure the highest standards for golf services and programs.

· Oversee the development of operating procedures and staff training.

· Communicate to controlling entity on a structured and timely basis.

· Establish personnel policies and ensure evaluations and annual reviews are completed and recorded for all applicable staff.

· Foster open communication within the facility.

· Develop and maintain all customer safety and emergency policies and procedures.

Golf operations

* Track and verify all players and guests, golf cars, club care, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping.

* Oversee golf cart fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and damage report.

* Develop and manage an innovative tournament program that services all customer segments.

* Administer the rules of golf and educate staff. Promote and provide rules of golf presentations to the membership.

* Develop, maintain, update, and utilize customer database.

* Supervise physical inventories, present a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.

* Develop and oversee player development programs.

* Oversee the administration of the golf handicap program.

* Oversee the merchandise operation.

* Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and collaborate on-course playability and tournament set-up.

* Work with committees and associations to provide communications and a strong working relationship with all groups to ensure proper operations for all events and budgets.

* Compile information from market competition to maintain competitiveness through various marketing platforms.

* Play golf with a variety of members and/or guests as time permits.

* Coordinate plans with food and beverage manager for food and beverage needs for all golf functions.

* Perform grip repair and club fittings for members and their guests.

* Update the website with pertinent information.

Knowledge, skills, and traits

· Fundamental knowledge of the game, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.

· Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.

· Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.

· Strong organization, planning, and prioritization skills.

· Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.

· Service and customer focused attitude.

· Experienced in written and oral business communications.

· Remain up to date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies.

· Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as flight simulators and PGA lesson practices.

· Experienced computer user including Jonas Club Management, Microsoft Word, Excel, Golf Genius, GHIN, Chelsea Reservation System, email, and internet.

· Maintain and promote a positive, professional image within the community.

· Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade show to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.

· Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
