Sr. Accountant
Join our accounting department, where everybody counts! High Bar Brands is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join a team of six highly involved contributors. Our office follows a hybrid work structure where employees are allowed to work remotely up to two days a week, and we strive to keep long days to a minimum. Come and Excel with us!
Summary/Objective
The accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and
loss, and other related financial activities. Will also analyze past financial performance to predict future performance.
Essential Functions
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Maintains the general ledger; and participates in closing the monthly financial statements.
- Reconciles cash, payroll, customer, and other financial accounts.
- Analyzes business and financial data.
- Evaluates capital expenditures and depreciation.
- Perform trend and cost analysis on rates and spending.
- Recommends updates to enhance the accounting related systems.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; especially with cross functional teams
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of methods of systems analysis and methods used in data analysis.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree in accounting, or bachelor’s degree in finance or closely related field
- 3 years of financial analysis / accounting experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Two years of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, OR valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certificate with at least one year of professional experience as an accountant or an auditor.
- 5 years of financial analysis / accounting experience.
