High Country Engineering, PC, located in Asheville, is searching for a bookkeeper with HR experience with the ability to oversee administrative office tasks to support a small civil engineering company. High Country Engineering, PC is a small civil engineering firm. We provide engineering services to a variety of clients in both the public and private sector. Our office is located north of downtown Asheville.
The ideal candidate will perform administrative, office assistant, financial, and analytical tasks.
The position demands an enthusiastic candidate with a track record for taking initiative as the company will rely on this person to provide direct support to the team by handling office administration-related tasks like minor accounting, bookkeeping, filing, document production, maintaining office supplies and assistant project coordination.
Oral and written communication skills, the ability to organize and a mastery of QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office/Excel are required for this role. Experience with time management software and familiarity with the professional services industry are considered additional assets but not required.
Ultimately, a successful Bookkeeper/Office Administrator should be able to help with the efficient and smooth day-to-day operation of the office.

Schedule:
- 2-4 hour shifts, 5 days a week (schedule is flexible and there is an option for limited remote work after office training has been completed)
Education:
- High school or equivalent
Experience:
- QuickBooks On-line: 1 year
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (references required)
- Accounting: 1 year (not a requirement but definitely an asset)
Responsibilities
- Manage daily office operations, including clerical tasks and administrative support.
- Coordinate project schedules and maintain accurate records using Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
- Handle bookkeeping and payroll functions while ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
