We currently have openings for a Gravel Pit Laborer for our Wayland and Delton pits and a floater to go between the Wayland, Delton and Doster pits.
General Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor or their designee, the Employee shall operate various types of mining equipment to surface mine sand and gravel in a safe and efficient manner. Pit Operators are also responsible for loading trucks along with customer’s trucks, trailers etc. and assisting in keeping the equipment safe and in operating order. Laborer and basic maintenance duties are also included in this position.
Essential Functions
- Operates various equipment such as loader, dozer, excavator, haul truck, skid steer to run materials thru a wash plant or dry screener.
- Performs equipment maintenance.
- Inspection and production reporting as required for work area and equipment.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean.
- Performs plant maintenance and housekeeping duties.
- Adheres to MSHA regulations and is conscious of preventing violations.
- Must be willing to work according to the company’s product demands.
- Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations.
- Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Employment Requirements/Qualifications
- Possession of a valid driver license
- Clean/safe driving record
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
- Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, twist, frequently lift up to 50 lbs. stretch, drive/sit
- Must have excellent attendance record and be punctual
- Ability to work well with others on the team and have a positive attitude
- Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work; Saturdays and nights, may be required
Working Conditions
- Operates heavy machinery 8-12 hours per day depending on schedule
- Exposure to various weather conditions ranging from extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, ice and wind
- Exposure to all types of terrain ranging from uneven, slippery, and soft ground
Compensation
- Wage based on experience.
- Discretionary bonus program.

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
