24-hour Youth Emergency Shelter & Drop-In Center
Job Details
Salary: $18 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt (40 hours per week)
Reports to Director of Programs
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate degree and/or some college preferred
2. Two years working with children, families, or youths
4. Ability to pass comprehensive background screening including fingerprinting and criminal record checks prior to hire
5. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow policies and procedures
- Maintain safety and welfare of the clients
- Maintain confidentiality, boundaries, and healthy relationships with clients, their families, visitors, community partners, and other team members
- Complete all job tasks on time, effectively, and accurately
- Immediately report to the Director of Programs any safety, health, or ethics concerns/issues
- Work with volunteers and staff to ensure an efficient and supportive environment and encourage program analysis and suggestions
- Maintain a positive relationship with staff, students, and volunteers
- Provide reports that will satisfy the requirements of the designated supervisor pertaining to duties performed
- Work within the constraints of program services (no counseling)
- Appropriately manage behavior with positive behavior supports and interventions
- Support youth development through accountability, encouraging appropriate behavior, documentation, being a positive mentor, and providing information to other team members
- Work with students from a strength-based perspective
- Keep the campus clean and serviceable
Must Demonstrate or Acquire these Competencies: (Training provided)
The ability to demonstrate skills in the following six domain areas:
(1) professionalism (including, but not limited to, consistent and reliable job performance and awareness and use of professional ethics to guide practice)
(2) applied Positive Youth Development (including, but not limited to, skills to develop a PYD plan and identification of the client's strengths to best apply a PYD development framework)
(3) cultural and human diversity (including, but not limited to, gaining knowledge and skills to meet the needs of clients of a different race, ethnicity, nationality, religion/spirituality, gender identity/expression, or sexual orientation)
(4) applied human development (including, but not limited to, understanding the developmental needs of those at risk and with special needs)
(5) relationship and communication (including, but not limited to, working with clients in a collaborative manner)
(6) developmental practice methods (including, but not limited to, utilizing methods focused on genuine relationships, health and safety, and intervention planning)
