Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Clinic Director at


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Earned doctoral level degree (O.D.) from an accredited institution.


Experience and Training:

Active optometry license in the state of practice.

North Carolina Optometry License not required at point of hire but will be required once clinic is operational.

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience prefered, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

Experience in an academic or training setting is preferred.

Ability to understand the profession of optometry and its emerging role in the U. S. healthcare delivery.

Ability to form and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, administration, students, and alumni.

Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinic management software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Clinical Operations Management:

Oversee the daily operations of the optometry clinics, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.

Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain clinical standards and regulatory compliance.

Manage clinical schedules, patient flow, and appointment systems to optimize service delivery.


Educational Support:

Coordinate with academic faculty to integrate clinical education with the curriculum.

Supervise and mentor optometric interns and residents, providing guidance and feedback on clinical performance.

Facilitate clinical training sessions, workshops, and continuing education programs.


Patient Care and Quality Assurance:

Ensure high standards of patient care and safety within the clinics.

Implement quality assurance programs to monitor and improve clinical outcomes.

Address patient complaints and concerns, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.


Staff Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise clinical staff, including optometrists, technicians, and support personnel.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for clinical staff.

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.


Administrative Duties:

Prepare and manage the clinic budget, including financial reporting and resource allocation.

Oversee inventory management, including ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to clinical operations.


Collaboration and Community Engagement:

Collaborate with other departments and external partners to support the school's mission and goals.

Participate in community outreach programs and represent the clinic in professional organizations and events.


ACCOUNTABILITY:

Member of the School of Optometry Administrative Team

Monitor the progression of students in the program to close the feedback loop on continuous assessment of predictors of student success.

Responsible for generating regular reports for the Dean regarding activities.

Works with the Dean to create annual reports to the ACOE and accreditation self-studies.


MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: 

Ability to multi-task: being able to alternate easily between entering information on the computer, conversing on the phone, and greeting a visitor.

Be focused in the midst of distractions.

Must have recall of facts or names; be meticulous.
