What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Marching Band - Color Guard position at HIGH SCHOOL?
POSITION STATEMENT: Integral part of the marching band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning, show design, and in implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the band director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend all competitions and home games as needed by the band director
- Attend all rehearsals and camps during the course of the season
- Implement marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting
- Teach drill responsibilities
SKILLS:
- Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills necessary
- Conducting, marching, choreography and performance skills and experience
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and students
- Contributes to creating a positive work environment
- Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality
- Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day
- Takes advantage of professional growth opportunities related to his/her specific job
- Works independently and with confidence
- Demonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision
Professional Performance Criteria
- Responsible for the conduct of students during practice, competitions and games
- Help to promote team morale and spirit and ensure student safety
- Cooperate with the Athletic Director, Principal, and other activity/athletics coaches and support each other in an ethical manner
- Report promptly for all practice sessions and contests and dress according to the standards established for that activity or sport
