Overview: We are seeking a skilled and passionate collaborative pianist to join our vibrant high school vocal music department. As a collaborative pianist, you will work closely with the high school choir teacher and students to enhance their musical education through accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and competitions. This role requires exceptional sight-reading abilities, a strong understanding of various musical styles, and the ability to adapt quickly to different musical genres and ensembles.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with high school choir instructor to provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, lessons, and performances.
- Accompany soloists and choirs during rehearsals and performances, ensuring musical cohesion and excellence.
- Sight-read and prepare music efficiently to meet the needs of rehearsals and performances.
- Assist students in understanding and interpreting musical pieces, offering guidance on technique and musical expression.
- Rehearse independently with students and groups as needed to prepare for performances and competitions.
- Serve as a positive and supportive mentor to students, fostering a love for music and a commitment to excellence with a diverse population of students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Piano Performance, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a collaborative pianist, preferably in an educational or ensemble setting.
- Proficiency in sight-reading and preparing music quickly and accurately.
- Strong understanding of various musical styles and genres.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other musicians.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
