Columbia Falls School District Six is seeking a strong student-centered team builder, with proven leadership abilities, excellent communication skills; expertise in curriculum development, instruction and assessment; and experience in leading effective school improvement efforts, to fill the position of Columbia Falls High School principal.

 

Columbia Falls High School facility was built in 1959. It is located near the south-central part of town a few blocks north of the Flathead River and four blocks south of US Highway 2, the main east-west thoroughfare through town. The original CFHS campus was designed to accommodate 650 students in the main building and administration offices in the CFHS Annex. Additions and renovations took place in 1990, when an academic wing of seven classrooms was added. In 1995, the industrial tech area was expanded to accommodate additional classroom and shop space. The main high school building and the annex houses classrooms and activity space for over 850 students.   Our mission is to provide a quality education through shared responsibility in a safe supportive environment for all students to meet the challenges of a global society.

 

Columbia Falls High School is a class A school with approximately 700 students in grades 9-12.    We offer students a wide variety of academic and vocational opportunities, and multiple pathways toward their post-secondary goals.  Besides core classes, elective courses, and online offerings, we have 9 advanced placement courses and 21 dual credit classes for college and high school credit.  On average, our students earn more than $2 million dollars in academic scholarships every year.

 

Columbia Falls School District Six covers a vast area that stretches from Essex to about 4 miles west of Columbia Falls and goes north to the Canadian border.  There are approximately 2200 students in two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.  

 

Columbia Falls is known for its friendly residents, strong community engagement, great schools, and abundant recreational activities just outside our back door.

START DATE:  SY2025-26

 

POSITION CLOSES:  First Screening will be 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025; but position is open until filled

 

UNIVERSAL OBLIGATIONS/EXPECTATIONS OF EACH STAFF MEMBER

 

It is the expectation of the District that each staff member will: (1) put the safety, health and well-being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities and decisions, and (2) undertake all duties in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal.
  • Supervises employees in school when the principal is absent from the building.
  • Administers a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
  • Assists with staff evaluation.
  • Assists in managing building staff, including class schedules and building problems.
  • Assists scheduling special events during the school day.
  • Provides general supervision to students.
  • Maintains relationships with parents and community.
  • Assists building principal in all aspects of building operations.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Be appropriately licensed and endorsed in accordance with state statutes and Board of Public Education rules, or be considered appropriately assigned if the administrator is enrolled in an internship.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, parents, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Excellent organizational skills to provide effective administration.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and general knowledge of issues and problems in all aspects of the school.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside.  The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.  The employee frequently will work irregular or extended hours while performing the duties of this job.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.

 

MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work.  The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another).  Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available.  The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.  The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications.

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
