The Upward Bound program at Highland Community College depends upon the quality of its part-time teaching and tutor/mentor staff to provide instruction, academic support, and guidance to program participants during the summer and academic year programs.
Tutor/Mentor Positions
Tutors provide academic tutor/mentor and supervision of students during summer, provide leadership for assigned groups of students during program activities, and serve as role models.
Educational Requirements: At least a 2nd year college student.
Required Experience:1-2 years as an academic tutor or summer camp counselor, demonstrated leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of the needs of a diverse youth population.
Compensation: Tutors are paid hourly_ ($20-23 per hour). In the summer tutor/mentor are compensated for the hours of 9 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday. Trips and overnight stays are paid by the program.
