Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the County Board of Supervisors on matters related to solid waste removal, budgeting, and other key issues.
- Represent the County in General District Court, Circuit Court, the Virginia Court of Appeals, and the Virginia Supreme Court as necessary.
- Negotiate leases, contracts, deeds, and easements on behalf of the County.
- Collect and sue for delinquent Enterprise Fees and EMS fees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Supervisors.
Requirements:
- CURRENT VIRGINIA BAR LICENSE REQUIRED.
- FIVE (5) OR MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW.
- STRONG WRITING AND DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO WRITE IN PLAIN AND SIMPLE ENGLISH.
- PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN ZONING MATTERS IS A PLUS.
- ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND COMPLEX LEGAL ISSUES AND WRITE MEMORANDA EXPLAINING THOSE ISSUES TO NON-ATTORNEYS.
