Responsibilities
Advise the Highland County Board of Supervisors on matters related to solid waste removal, budgetary issues, and other county ordinances.
Work closely with constitutional officers, building and zoning administrators, and the planning commission to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Draft policies, ordinances, easements, deeds, leases, and legal memoranda.
Review contracts and provide reports related to that review.
Negotiate leases, contracts, deeds, and easements on behalf of the county.
Represent the county in general district court, circuit court, the Virginia Court of Appeals, and the Virginia Supreme Court as necessary.
