Located in Highland Park in St. Paul, we are a small team headed by Dr. Brian Snyder. Entering our 15th year of business, we are a private practice optometry clinic that offers a full spectrum of eye care. We are happy to offer a hand picked selection of eye wear and individual attention to each of our patients.

Highland Family Eye Care is hiring for an experienced optometic/ophthalmic technician at our locally owned optometry practice. The optometic tech is a vital part of achieving our mission to provide the best experience for each person who contacts our office as well as supporting the doctor and his schedule.

A good candidate is someone who enjoys staying busy throughout the day without constant supervision, can efficiently switch between different tasks, and is detail-oriented. A successful candidate should have confidence with and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds and work well as part of a small team.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient work-up and hand off to doctor with strong ability to communicate necessary information to doctor along with accurate, clear ,and consistent documentation into patient charts.
  • Maintain and adapt schedule as needed to create smooth schedule flow and patient experience; ability to independently recognize potential issues that may impact patient schedule.
  • Gather data for doctor including but not limited to: general pre-testing information (VA, IOP, CF, etc), OCT's, VF's, retinal photos, and dark adaptation screenings.
  • Maintain stock, ordering, and notification of contact lenses and orders.
  • Open, close, and maintain stock and cleanliness of exam and pre-testing rooms.
  • Assist with some front desk tasks as needed - check in and check out, scheduling, answering phones, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Some previous experience as ophthalmic technician is required for this position. Training on specific medical testing equipment and software will be provided if necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately process and communicate medical information, patient concerns, and medical history.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to adapt communication style to match a wide variety of ages, personalities, and situations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • This is primarily a patient facing position, a successful personality for this type of position is typically outgoing, empathetic, and patient. A "people-person" is best suited for this role.
  • Experience with Revolution EHR and Apple computers a plus!

The position has a set schedule but ability to be flexible with hours worked based on clinic needs and employee availability. Full time employees will receive PTO, vision benefits and employee discounts, paid holidays, and IRA matching after meeting certain qualifications. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and any current accreditations or certifications.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
