What are the responsibilities and job description for the Worship Pastor position at Highland Park Baptist Church?
The Worship Pastor serves together with our Senior Pastor and Discipleship Pastor to feed the body with the Word of God, protect against false doctrine, and minister to the needs of the congregation. He is expected to establish a vision for the worship ministry at Highland Park that aligns with and supports the overall vision of our church. The Worship Pastor is responsible to assist the Senior Pastor with ministerial and support needs as they arise. He will coordinate and lead Worship for our Sunday Morning worship gathering, along with our Senior Pastor. He also will direct the adult choir practices weekly and be responsible for overseeing our children’s choirs.
Qualifications
- Must meet the qualifications of a Pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4.
- A bachelor of Music degree is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Personal knowledge and growing commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate and communicate well with a variety of individuals.
- Knowledge of music, ability to teach music, and ability to play basic instruments.
- Ability to lead group singing with a focus on corporate worship.
- Ability to organize and develop a blended service that accommodates the worship needs of multiple generations.
- Training and experience with teaching and leading a praise and worship team with instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboards, etc. Additional skills needed to lead vocal team and handbell choir, including teaching appropriate harmonization’s, song endings, etc.
- Understanding of Thematic Worship. Ability to select songs that relate to worship theme and organize order of worship that is seamless and flows into the sermon.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
