Job Description Title: Day Programs Coordinator
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
Overview of this position: This person will oversee or directly lead all Belong Day Classes, Give Backs, Sensory & Movement Room programming and other special events such as My Martial Arts Tournaments.
Reports To: Director of Belong Disability Ministry
FLSA Status: Exempt
Campus: Mockingbird
Working Hours: This is a Full-time position working 36 hours a week.
Anticipated Schedule: The schedule is generally, Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30 pm, Friday 8 am-12 pm and evenings for programming.
During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create and organize programs specific to HPUMC’s Disability ministry and oversee the scheduling of these programs at the Tolleson Family Activity Center
- Coordinate with identified partners enabling HPUMC to offer first-class programs and experiences to those with disabilities.
- offer Day Classes every month of the year (except for July)
- every 4 weeks, provide 8 different classes a week
- On Mondays, there are over 70 participants here for the 3 offered classes from 1-2pm
- All other classes are attended by an average of 15 participants
- write up contracts
- order the supplies needed for the classes
- get classes ready for registration and on the HPUMC website
- have classes scheduled and ready to go about 1-2 months before so Lisa M can assign a link
- goes to Communications where they use the link and my class descriptions to put on the website (done 2 weeks in advance)
- Administrative Duties:
- Reserve rooms in E space
- Take attendance and record in Touchpoint
- Monthly Concur Expense Reports
- Input new participant information into Touchpoint
- Send out weekly emails to participants about Day Classes
- Plan & execute Give Backs one Tuesday a month
- Make & deliver sandwiches in partnership with Cotrell King to attendees of The Table and to residents of Dickinson Place
- Oversee Belong Service Projects
- Churchwide Day of Service
- Plan & execute service opportunities in tandem with Outreach Ministry
- Austin Street Center Serving
- Coordinate and attend dinner service with Belong participants at Austin Street Center 4 times a year
- Oversee and train partners & participants on appropriate usage of the sensory and movement rooms. Ensure rooms and equipment are used as designed to benefit our participants and their needs.
- Build out and implement consistent movement and sensory room usage
- Apply universal training to volunteers so they can work with individuals with various disabilities including autism and participants who are non-verbal.
- Help lead Universal Volunteer Training sessions twice a year
- Ensure that all contract staff follow the core values and risk management principles of the Belong Disability Ministry
- Attend and participate in weekly round table sessions where needs of our participants are discussed. Offer assessments and observations based on experience and feedback from our participants as to how we can enhance our programs and their experience.
- Offer strategies on current trends related to the populations we serve.
- Belong Team Duties:
- I will support Night Owls at least twice a year
- I will support The Feast or the Walk when needed and available
- Serve as Belong staff liaison for My Martial Arts Tournaments and other special events
Education and Desired Skills:
Education
- 4-year college degree required
- Food Manager’s License
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Universal Volunteer Training Skills
Skills
- People Skills, Organization, Task Analysis and Team Player is required
- Experience working with children and/or adults with disabilities is preferred
- Expert writing for all age and academic levels. Proficient proofreading. Knowledge of accessing reading/writing levels for special education.
- Occasional work with numbers, basic accounting principles. Ability to project expenses and track expenditure and provide financial statement.
- Bilingual- instrumental in helping Belong to expand beyond the Park Cities
