Building Maintenance Technician
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment, as well as grounds maintenance responsibilities.
Reports To: Building Maintenance Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Campus: Mockingbird, Tolleson, Grove and Wesley House
Working Hours: This is a Full-time position that will work an anticipated 40 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Regular hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm with occasional overtime and weekends.
During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:

General Maintenance and Repair of Buildings, Facilities, Equipment, and Grounds.
Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at various facilities/sites including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, and painting tasks; repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets; cleans debris from roof gutters as necessary; performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets; repairs door hinges; cleans plugged key slots; changes filters on various ventilation units; hooks up and services kitchen appliances; reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate party for action; moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites; sets up and breaks down cubicle partitions; identifies projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person; assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outride vendors as directed; completes service requests and updates work logs for specific site requirements; opens and closes church campuses and other site buildings; activates and deactivates building alarms; as part of site support team, assists with special projects periodically as directed; maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites.
Assist in other areas if needed, which could include:
The Grove Campus, the Wesley House Campus, and the Tolleson Family Activity Center.
Education and Desired Skills:
- High school diploma/equivalent required; technical degree/diploma preferred
- At least 5 years maintenance experience, to include light carpentry, plumbing, HVACR repair, energy management system use and electrical troubleshooting
- Must be safety conscious with thorough knowledge of sound safety procedures and regulations
- Responsive, steady, energetic and dependable with a high degree of initiative and with good people, communication and organization skills
- Experience with/knowledge of energy management systems a plus
- Good computer skills: email, Internet, Word, Excel, calendar
- Good vision, hearing and fine motor abilities, plus ability to move about as necessary
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and flexibility to work after-hours and weekends as necessary in event of facility emergencies
- Respond effectively to all emergencies at the HPUMC campus, Family Activity Center, The Grove Church, and future satellite campuses
Preferred Software Experience:
- Simple emails, letter, form completion
- Frequent work with numbers
- HVAC automation that includes -I-Net , Structure ware, Delta, Trend
- Rhino Work Ticket System , Touch Point, e Space, Excel, Word, HPUMC website
- Other software as acquired by the department
