Director of HPUMC Day School
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
The Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring a high standard of care and education (both early childhood and Christian), managing staff, and fostering a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for both children and families. This position supervises the administration team and is accountable for ensuring compliance with state regulations for child care licensing.

Working Hours: This is a Full-time position that will work at least 40 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday- Friday, rotating schedule between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, including an unpaid lunch break. During certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Leadership and Staff Management:
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to all staff members, including teachers, assistant teachers, float teachers, and administrative personnel.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to maintain high standards of early childhood education.
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, conduct evaluations, and manage employee development.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff to ensure appropriate qualifications and compliance with licensing regulations.
- Curriculum and Program Development:
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure chosen curriculum is implemented and supports the developmental needs of children from infancy to five years old.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure that the curriculum is being taught in methods that are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with state and national standards for early childhood education.
- Promote a play-based, child-centered approach to learning, focusing on social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Work with the HPUMC Childrens Ministry to ensure that all classrooms incorporate appropriate Christian learning into daily routines.
- Operations and Facility Management:
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of Compliance and Safety to ensure the day school operates in compliance with state and local regulations, including safety, health, and licensing requirements.
- Work closely with the admin team and teachers to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
- Support the Office Manager and Relationships Coordinator with the daily operations, including scheduling, enrollment, staffing, and supply management.
- Handle the facility's budget, including ensuring cost-effective use of resources and overseeing financial responsibilities such as tuition, billing, and payroll.
- Family and Community Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for families, addressing concerns, and providing timely responses.
- Build strong relationships with families, fostering a sense of community and engagement.
- Attend the monthly Parents Board Association meeting - provide day school updates.
- Ensure that families are provided timely and effective communication using the chosen method of communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, providing them with ongoing communication about their child’s progress and center activities.
- Serve as a liaison between the preschool and the wider community, promoting the center's mission and building positive partnerships.
- Lead the Back-to-School sessions for all families.
- Health and Safety:
- Monitor and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the center.
- Support the Assistant Director of Compliance and Safety with maintaining appropriate records regarding children’s health, safety, and emergency plans.
- Support the Assistant Director of Compliance and Safety by reviewing and enforcing policies related to child health, including illness prevention, allergies, and emergency protocols.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Support the Assistant Director of Compliance and Safety to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including licensing and accreditation standards.
- Support the Assistant Director of Compliance and Safety by ensuring accurate records and reports for licensing, inspections, and audits are done correctly and updated appropriately.
- Submit timely and accurate reports to the governing body or other stakeholders as needed.
- Manage relationship with regulatory agencies.
- Marketing and Enrollment:
- Analyze current and future trending to determine what classrooms are needed for the upcoming year (including HD and AD programing), ensuring the school stays profitable and of high quality.
- Recommend annual tuition fee adjustments for approval by the Executive Director of Operations & CFO, based on the needs of the school and industry averages.
- Manage the annual Enrollment Process.
- Lead the yearly new enrollment and current family information sessions.
- In conjunction with the Office Manager and Relationships Coordinator work to ensure child placement in classrooms is done effectively and efficiently.
- Support the Office Manager and Relationships Coordinator providing tours.
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain or increase enrollment, ensuring the Day School’s sustainability.
- Financial:
- Prepare an annual budget.
- Manage spending and review monthly financial reports.
- Approve expense reports for all Day School staff.
- Ensure compliance with all HPUMC policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- Certified Licensed Child Care Director in the state of Texas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Knowledge of early childhood education standards, child development principles, and current trends in early childhood education.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- A passion for working with young children and fostering their development.
- Knowledge of state and federal licensing regulations and child safety standards.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Education and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred).
- 5 years experience in Early Childhood Education required; administrative experience preferred
