What are the responsibilities and job description for the HPUMC Day School Teacher (12 Month) position at HIGHLAND PARK METHODIST CHURCH?
Highland Park United Methodist Church Day School is a great place to work with children! This position is responsible for guiding and caring for our young friends in our all-day, early childhood education program.
Reports To: Assistant Director, Day School
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Campus: Mockingbird
Working Hours: This is a full-time position with benefits that will work an anticipated 40 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday- Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works to establish a safe and healthy learning environment for children. Ensures children are supervised at all times.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children.
- Uses positive guidance with children that is age appropriate.
- Establishes a trust relationship with children, families and staff through open communication, teamwork, and demonstrating a positive attitude.
- Communicates with others in a positive, professional manner.
- Uses technology to document children’s attendance, daily activities, and communicate with parents.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience working in an early childhood program required.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be completed while employed).
- Demonstrated skill in working with children, planning developmentally appropriate lessons, guiding children, interacting positively with children, parents and co-workers.
- Commitment to continuing professional education.
Education and Desired Skills:
- High School Diploma is required.
- Early Childhood Education coursework or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
